COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Practical Theology is a way of doing theology that begins with real-life concerns arising from human experience. It engages these concerns in dialogue with the Christian tradition and the surrounding culture, and through that conversation seeks wisdom that leads to transformative action.
It is a mutually interpretive, critical, and life-giving exchange between the Christian faith and contemporary experience. This theological method relies on historical, hermeneutical, and socio-cultural analysis to understand how faith speaks into the present moment.
Practical Theology is always rooted in the life of a faith community. It emerges from a spirituality that is both personal and liturgical, and it aims toward transformation of individuals, communities, and society in Christ.
