Course Description: Sociology is the study of society. It explores ways of looking at the world that allow us to understand how the events and experiences of our lives are part of group dynamics, of social institutions, of cultural meanings. It allows us to see personal events and meanings as affected by historical forces, and to see how historical events may be shaped by personal choices. It focuses on identifying, explaining, and interpreting patterns and processes of human social relations.

Course Name :Constitution of the P.C.T.T
Course Description: The Constitution of the Presbyterian Church has been rooted in the belief in Order and Decency, and historically has been the bedrock guidance for the formation of democratic constitutions. For us, in the Trinidad and Tobago context, there has been considerable confusion in the understanding and interpretation of the constitution. This Course therefore aims to bring insight into the historical rooting and the current Constitution of our Church.

Course Name: Ecumenical Theology : Theory & Praxis
Course Description: Ecumenical Theology has evolved throughout Christian history, initially serving as a response to secularism and now aiming for visible unity among diverse Christian denominations and within broader religious pluralism. Ecumenism refers to efforts toward unity and cooperation among Christian Churches. This course emphasizes the relevance of ecumenism in today’s ever-changing world, especially in contexts like Trinidad where Churches have continually adapted. Students will define ecumenism, examine its theological roots, and explore both regional and global ecumenical movements. The course also aims to strengthen students’ understanding of their own and others’ Christian traditions, equipping them with tools for lifelong ministry and interdenominational engagement.

Course name: Homiletics I
Course Description: This introductory course will treat three major aspects of homiletics: the theology of homiletics, the movement from exegesis to the sermon, and the practice of preparing and preaching sermons. The treatment of the theology of homiletics will introduce students to the theology of the Word of God and of preaching, and will include consideration of the definition, purpose, and principal types of preaching and teaching. The course will also help students reflect in a general way on the culture in which preaching takes place today.

Course Name: New Testament Greek
Course Description: This course is an introduction to New Testament Greek vocabulary, grammar and syntax with an introduction to the New Testament in Greek. It provides an introduction to the basic elements of New Testament Greek alphabet, grammar and syntax. It focuses on elementary explorations of translation, and its relation to reading.
Interpreting texts in context is addressed through the readings from the New Testament particularly the Gospel of John. Help shall be given in the effective use of resources such as grammars, lexicons, concordances, and the practice of textual criticism parsing guides, and interlinear sources whether in computer or book format.
